I keep having dreams that I’m waking up dead in formaldehyde sweats, with a rose in my bed.

The deafening silence refrains in my ears like the father’s bereavement that his children can’t hear. I’ve widdled myself a cathedra of lies, and my sermon’s refined by the playwright of life.

The windows we paint, concealed what’s inside, but they’re marked with an SOS the moment they dry. The voices inside, all hum the same tune. A throbbing cacophony,of the gospel of doom.

I’m melting.

Did you forget about the cures that we have prospered? With help from debt collectors posing as our doctors. And I won’t make you brave the weather for my slumber. I swear to everyone, I’ll parish in the summer.

I’m barely breathing,
But I’ve hardly noticed.
I’ll bet I can hold it for all of my life.
I’m not a nuisance,
in spite of impudence,
But my dreams were lucid for all of my life.

I’ll just bend until I break.

(As food for thought is getting thin, I’m forced to starve my mind again. Severance is death for fools, it’s rest to me and life for you.)
